Indian Titli in Italy Diaries - Post 1 - India shining

For the last few years, somehow, it has so turned out that holidaying in Europe has become a ritual. No, no, no I don't mean to come across as elitist as that probably just sounded, but it is true that affordability for a European vacation has suddenly become a reality. Maybe India is indeed progressing - that a middle class girl can now make party conversations around "Y'know when I was in Europe last time.........". Honestly I had only imagined conversations earlier around "when I was in Bandra last time......". Really, going to Bandra is almost as rare and elitist for me but that's for another time.

So coming back to European vacations, my recent most, of course as the name suggests, was to Italy. Now I'm not brave enough to do a solo vacation and I'm not rich enough to do a 'zindagi na milegi dobara' kinda vacation - you know the one where you drive around in a convertible, play around with tomatoes, or have the luxury to salsa on table tops, ideally with topless men. Nope, not happening.

So as I planned my 5th annual vacation to Europe this time, I realised I end up having it pretty good within my limited means. I have not had to compromise on any of the touristy must-do's or penny pinch on wining and dining, and yet I come back having soaked in the city and appreciating Europe more and more each time, with each place that I go to.

Therefore ladies and gentlemen, I feel it is my duty to share my experiences, thoughts and perhaps even some recommendations with you. Maybe it'll help you plan your vacations or maybe it'll help you with some tips or maybe it'll just help me relive my vacation - whatever the end result be, penning it down may not be a bad idea.

My current plan is to bring to you small titbits from Italy that'll hopefully make for interesting reads - not necessarily in a chronological order of how my vacation went. I must clarify that, coz I am actually an xl sheet travel planner and hence chronology by date, and in fact even by time can become very crucial to me. But here, I shall desist the corporate slave behaviour and go with the flow - of where my mind takes me. And take you along on a journey across Rome, Florence, Venice and Verona.

So much for an introduction for now. Coming up next, how touristy does touristy get - roam in Rome and you will find out.
